Professional Profile

Professor Dr. Av. Salvatore Vitale is a lawyer, member of the Rome Bar (since 1985) and qualified to plead and represent clients also before the Italian Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice.

Domiciled in Rome, he is also the founder (in 2004) and a senior partner of Vitale & Partners (www.vitalegal.com), an international law firm with offices all over Europe, Asia, Africa and America.


Corporate & Managerial Experience

Professor Vitale has also from time to time worked as in-house counsel, or retained counsel acting with senior managerial tasks, in particular at:

  • 2021-2025: Outside counsel retained by Alstom Transportation as Separation and Contract Manager for the sale and assignment of the v300 Business (production of High Speed Trains) to Hitachi Rail Italy;

  • 2011-2013: Outside counsel retained by Bombardier Transportation ltaly as Contract Manager for the production and supply to Trenitalia of the ETR 1000 High Speed Trains;

  • 2000-2002: Head of Legal Affairs for the whole European Area of the Telecom Italia Group (Rome), and Member of the Board of Directors of Telecom Italia International (Amsterdam);

  • 1993-2000: Head of Contracts of Alitalia-Italian Airlines (Rome);

  • 1995-1998: Member of the Supervisory Board of MALEV-Hungarian Airlines (Budapest);

  • 1990-1993: European Counsel of Texas Instruments, Inc., based at the European Headquarters in Villeneuve Loubet (France).


Academic Career

Professor Vitale, besides practising as a lawyer, is also currently teaching “International Law of Economics” at UNIDAV-Leonardo Da Vinci University (Chieti, Italy), after having been in the past a Professor of the same course at the University of Siena Law School (Siena, Italy) and LUISS University (Rome, Italy), and having been a Guest Professor at ECUPL-East China University of Political Sciences (Shanghai, China, 2005).


Education

Professor Vitale graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1982 at the University of Siena Law School (Italy), and he later, as a Fulbright Scholar, attended and obtained a MCL-Master in Comparative Laws from Southern Methodist University-Law School (Dallas, TX, U.S.A.) and a Ph.D. in International Law of Economics from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy).


Arbitration & International Roles

Besides working as a legal pratitioner, Prof. Vitale is also a member of the Court of Arbitration of various Chambers of Commerce (Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia; Chamber of Commerce of Bucarest, Romania), and actively involved in various international arbitration cases.
